China Oval White Stone Sculpture with Carved Carp Relief 8.6 cm

Description

Chinese white stone carp carving of oval form, featuring a fish in relief within a recessed decorative panel.

The fish is detailed with incised scales and defined fins, surrounded by flowing ornamental motifs. A broad polished border frames the composition, contrasting with the textured carving. The reverse is smooth and gently rounded.

The creamy white stone is translucent when backlit, displaying warm tones where the light passes through its thinner sections.

The precise mineral composition has not been identified, and the piece is offered as white stone rather than jade. Its date and original function are undetermined.
