Description
This Buti Italy drypoint by Viviano Viviani depicts Via San Francesco at Castel di Nocco. Dated 1984, the impression is signed in pencil and numbered 10/50.
A descending street winds between traditional houses and stone walls, leading the eye towards village rooftops and a prominent bell tower. Mountain slopes rise behind the buildings, giving depth to this detailed Tuscan landscape.
Fine lines and closely worked hatching describe the masonry, tiled roofs and vegetation. Printed in a warm brown tone, the composition captures the quiet character of an Italian village. Its vertical format is complemented by generous surrounding margins.
The engraved caption reads “Buti Castel di Nocco — Via S. Francesco”. The date 1984 appears within the plate, while the pencil signature and edition number are placed beneath the image.
Created in drypoint on copper and printed by hand, this work belongs to the same series devoted to Buti. It is printed on handmade rag paper from Cartiera Magnani in Pescia. The stated edition comprised 50 numbered sets and a further 10 sets outside the commercial edition.
