Description
This Bruges Ezelpoort print depicts the historic city gate in a colourful architectural composition, with bridges and reflections extending across the water.
The gate stands at the centre of the scene. Its rounded tower, varied rooflines and arched entrance create a distinctive silhouette against the softly shaded sky. A bridge approaches from the right, while trees frame the opposite bank and neighbouring buildings complete the townscape.
Warm ochre and brown tones describe the masonry and roofs, contrasting with the blue-green water below. The reflections soften the imposing architecture and give the scene a peaceful atmosphere. Fine linear details define the brickwork, windows, branches and bridge arches.
The print has a clearly visible plate impression and a pencil signature in the lower right margin. The artist’s name has not yet been deciphered. No date is legible in the photograph.
The image is surrounded by generous paper margins with irregular edges. Its compact format would suit a collection of Belgian town views, European architectural prints or depictions of historic gates and waterways.
